New Wave Cabaret #1-1/21/97

The first new wave cabaret was on my actual 30th birthday, at a Rickety Tuesday at the Next Decade. The show was opened by Scott Prarie, followed by Rib King, and then the cabaret began.
I have a tape here from which I am going to attempt to reconstruct what all happened...I know it's missing some stuff though because Dana and Karen and Scott Prarie sang "Tainted Love" and it's not on here. It may have been the first act, but I'm not sure.
Here's the rundown, and the performers to the best of my memory---please help fill in the blanks if you were there!
Host:Gary Anderson in an awesome vinyl new wave "tunic" with hair spraypainted silver! (pictures coming soon!) Cake: keyboard shaped, made by Gary
Dana, Karen, Scott---Tainted Love
Ernie and Alan? Mike? who else?---Atrocity Exhibition, Pictures of You, Read It In Books
Peevo---Cars and ?? and Cars again(gary singing) (robot dance contest! winner---Justin Ludus second prize Joelle)
Manny, Joelle, Mike--- Enola Gay, Underpass, Down In The Park, Being Boiled
(I have no idea who!)---Blister In The Sun, Add It Up
somewhere during these mystery songs was when the big fight broke out in the back and the video camera was knocked to the ground. I wish I had the video tape, but I have no idea where it ended up.
Jesse and the Waves(who all were they? besides Jesse trbovich)---The Puppet, Let's Go
(with special guest vocalist Randy Castanza)---Love Will Tear Us Apart
Randy made a cake mess all over the stage, I yelled at him about it, and he apologized every time he saw me for YEARS afterward!!!!
Spaz, Sharon, and ???---Ant Music, Stand and Deliver, Beat My Guest, Here Comes the Grump, Viva Le Rock

Please send all additions, corrections, or other comments/memories to me in the comment section or via email. Thanks!

Welcome!

This is the information center for the 2007 Rickety New Wave Cabaret.

The story so far.....

February 3rd, 2007
31st Street Pub

I'm not sure what the start time will be....I've already got possibly 17 acts sort of confirmed....eek! Obviously we'll need to pare it down a bit. Some of the names might be consolidated, some folks may be all talk and no action(not necessarily a bad thing in this case!) and most likely I'll have to limit each act to 2 numbers or 15 minutes---depending on what happens with the confirmations.
In the next day or two I'll send out an email to the folks on the list to see who is ready to set it in stone, and then I'll go from there.

I hope to fill this blog up with pictures and rememberances from the past cabarets as well as excitement for the upcoming one...if you have stories or pictures from the past 10 years (give or take) of Rickety New Wave Cabarets, please feel free to send them along!

OK...deep breath....on with the show!
xoxo
